Trackdown Sprinting and Hill Climbing in fast cars
Let's forget all this stuff about remote control units for a moment and have a chat about my abiding passion: that of Sprinting and Hill climbing. I share a Westfield SEI with my chum Peter Bishop. It's Pete's car and is similar to a Lotus or Caterham Seven... you know... the car "The Prisoner" used to drive in that wacky seventies TV series.
So, most weekends through the summer you will normally find Joy who is my wife, and who shares a Caterham Seven with another chum Dave Wilson, at a sprint or Hillclimb venue somewhere in the UK.
Over the last year we have tended to stick to the Midland Hillclimb Championship. The venues we go to the most are, Shelsley Walsh, Prescott, and Loton Park. Simply because they are all fairly local to us, down here in Herefordshire.
As with most racing cars, it's an ongoing development thing, to try to go faster than the other guys and gals. We have exactly the same problems as F1 - it's just that their trials and tribulations are seen on world-wide TV and they have infinitely more money to throw at the problems; but the pain and the glory are just the same, I can assure you.Incidentally this image was used as the main picture on the September page, of the 2005 Prescott Calendar.
